After several publishing deals fell through, I was forced to confront an essential question: why do I make this work? Not for profit, but to share experiences, moments, spaces, and feelings that shape how I see the world.
I’ve always loved arcades. Growing up, they were places of escape and excitement, tucked inside bowling alleys or next to movie theaters. I also carry a quiet envy for the arcades of the 1980s, imagining their electric glow before the turn of the century. That sense of nostalgia isn’t mine alone. In recent years, arcades have re-emerged in a new form: adult spaces where gaming and drinking collide.
This photobook is a tribute to the childlike wonder that overtakes adults as they step up to familiar machines. It documents a cultural shift, exploring how alcohol reshapes these environments and gives rise to new rituals, behaviors, and connections. Moving between past and present, the work captures moments of play, vulnerability, and shared memory, celebrating arcades not just as places to play, but as spaces where nostalgia, community, and imagination still thrive.
